Unfortunately, you may not have the right to FTP the revised home.html onto godaddy%26#039;s server since you are using their template which is not revisable or updateable. If you need extra features instead of just a basic hosting plan, you might want to look at some of the free open-source software that you can install. There are some MAJOR businesses and non-profits running on Drupal and Joomla, for example. Getting software like that installed and configured takes only a few mouse clicks IF the host you sign with is using cPanel and Fantastico (which most of the better hosting plans are using).

If you need an online store, again there are a lot of options. ZenCart and osCommerce are popular, though I prefer Drupal%26#039;s eCommerce add-in module.

I have a website that is coming up on renewal. Problem is, I used a promo code to get *the cheapest plan* for 22.40 (97$ off). Now to renew it will cost me $119.40, which, as a freshman in highschool, i simply cannot afford.

Dreamhost is a good company. They say they started in 1997, and I was with them for at least 4-5 years before I finally ended up getting my own server in 2003 because I needed to do things that I couldn%26#039;t do without %26quot;root%26quot; privileges.

Their prices are excellent, and they are a company with integrity, which makes them a better hosting company than at least 90% of the companies out there.

Well, getting my own server was just the start. I%26#039;m in the hosting business now, and I have a couple of thousand customers. Because I aspire to be better than 90% of the companies out there, I also have integrity.

That means I don%26#039;t overcharge someone else in order to undercharge you. And they don%26#039;t, either.

Their smallest plan gives you 145.6 GB, and 1 more GB every week, which means you%26#039;ve got about 200 GB of space. It starts with 1.456 TB and gives you 16 GB more bandwidth every week, which means you have about 2.2 TB of bandwidth at this point.

Moving to another server is a pain - but your *real* problem is that you%26#039;re not likely to find another hosting company that will give you a deal like that. I sure as heck won%26#039;t give you 200 GB of space and 2.2 TB of bandwidth for $119.00.

You don%26#039;t have to come up with $119.40 at once. You can pay for your plan at $9.95 per month.

If you can%26#039;t figure out how to come up with $9.95/month, you%26#039;re a pretty sad case. Stop your panhandling, and get a job.

2) HostGator... I guess every popular host has their share of horror stories, and HostGator is no exception. All you have to do is check out their own support forum! 3) Free web hosting... most of these aren%26#039;t free... you%26#039;re paying for the service by allowing your pages to get mangled with their ads. I did find ONE good free host just a few days ago that is REALLY free... as in, no MONEY and no ADS either, plus the full set of features you expect from a paid service, like multiple MySQL databases, multiple FTP accounts, cPanel, phpMyAdmin, and so on...

Other Replys:I used to host with Ipowerweb and they were good at first so I recommended them to about 8 clients of mine. Boy was that a mistake. I have had nothing but problems with them since and tech support is a joke. You wait on the phone hours only to get no help. If you email you get a non usable response and there so called live chat never answers. I just spend 4 hours yesterday remaking 3 forms i did for a client that were working for for 2 years, then Ipowerweb moves them to a new server and the forms are scrambled. Of course tech support has no answers.

If i were you, I would ask for a refund and move hosts. It will save you time and money in the long run.

I now host with Site5. they are fairly good, but I did have any issue were my website was down for 24 hours because they moved servers and did not set up the secure server certificate correctly.

My personal preference is hosting the website yourself. Not only do you get to control the website, the only downtime is if your computer goes down or your connection gets shot, and if the website is getting say 10K hits a month, you won%26#039;t need to host with someone and can save money to focus on developing the site. You can use a dns redirector to link your registered domain to your local IP.
